ACUPUNCTURE FOR FERTILITY AND IVF SUPPORT

You may already have done extensive research into ways of improving your chances of having a baby. I would like to share my own thoughts with you and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Infertility, like other conditions, is a sign of the body being out of balance. Acupuncture adjusts the body’s life energy (chi or qi) to restore balance, improving overall health which in turn can only improve the chances of pregnancy.

Many apparently irrelevant factors may cause infertility. Stress is a key factor and this can become self-perpetuating when conception repeatedly fails to happen. Medication (e.g. for depression, epilepsy) taken for unrelated purposes can affect fertility; catching a simple cold may even affect ovulation. Used as a holistic therapy, acupuncture can address various health issues at the same time, issues that may be disrupting your body’s natural balance and creating a state of infertility.

How acupuncture can boost IVF success?

With a advanced fertility acupuncture and working with IVF experts. the IVF chances of success are significantly increased. Recent results have shown the ovary function and fertilization rates to be up to 10 times better with our treatment. There is also evidence of significant increased sperm quality, quantity and reduced sperm DNA damage (case study shown 80% infertile DNA damage reduction in 1.5 month treatment.

Medical research is also considered when developing an individual fertility acupuncture plan. Here are some related research:

Dr Caroline Smith’s research at University of Adelaide has shown that fertility rates can be doubled with the use of acupuncture during embryo transfer.  Importantly, this research has shown that the benefit is not affected by age, meaning all age groups showed the increase in IVF success rates from the acupuncture therapy.

Acupuncture for IVF review (24 trials, total 5,807 participants) conclusion:

  1. Acupuncture improves clinical pregnancy rate (CPR) and live birth rate (LBR) among women undergoing IVF.

  2. More positive effects from acupuncture in IVF can be expected if more individualized acupuncture plans are used.

  3. Appropriate acupuncture times: around the time of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) or oocyte aspiration (OA) or through the time of COH to the time of OA.

  4. Enough treatment courses: at least four sessions.
